Artist of the Month

UK’s very own Years & Years takes April’s artist of the month!

Years & Years has been on my radar ever since I discovered them about over a year ago when they first released their debut single “King” and I have been hooked ever since. Since the release of their album “Communion” last summer Olly Alexander and the band has been taking the music scene by storm. Years & Years’ music has been described as electropop, mixing R&B and 1990s house elements,  Diplo,Radiohead and Jai Paul being their core influences.

Here is a Spotify playlist with some of my favorites from Years & Years:

years-and-years-1The band was originally formed in 2010, after Mikey Goldsworthy moved to London from Australia and met Emre Türkmen. Shortly afterwards, Olly Alexander joined the band as lead vocalist after Mikey Goldsworthy heard him singing in the shower. Since taking off, Years & Years has played sold out shows in the UK and recently embarked on a US tour which sold out in many cities. Most recently, Years & Years was asked to play both weekends at Coachella as well as open for Ellie Goulding’s Delirium World Tour here in the states.

I had the privilege to see Years & Years live with my best friend this past weekend where they opened for Ellie Goulding and let me tell you.. they were so amazing! Olly played with so much energy and they sounded perfect. When I finally see an artist live it really gives me a better appreciation of their work. I HIGHLY suggest picking up a copy of  Years & Years’ album “Communion” and if they are in your city go see them! You won’t regret it!
