Best of the Oscars

Some of the best Oscar nominated songs to get you ready for the big show!

With this year’s awards season about to come to a close with this year’s Oscars on Sunday. I thought it would be a great idea to get you ready for the big show with some of the best songs over the years.

I had to really dig deep into the rolodex of songs throughout the years and these particular ones stood out to me the most. Not only do these songs have really great movies to go along with the track but a majority of them did not go home with the big statue the night they were nominated. One song is yet to be determined whether or not it will take home the big statue and that’s “Writing’s On The Wall” performed by Sam Smith which was featured in Spectre 007.

This featured list ranges from musicals, action and drama. Some of my favorites that made the list have to be “Coming Home” from the movie Country Strong, “The Moon Song” which was featured in Her, and the many more amazing songs.

Check out the Spotify playlist here:

Coming Home- Gwyneth Paltrow (Country Strong)

Skyfall- Adele (Skyfall 007)

My Heart Will Go On- Celine Dion (Titanic)

Listen- Beyonce (Dreamgirls)

Miss Celie’s Blues (Sister)- Quincy Jones (The Color Purple)

I Have Nothing- Whitney Houston (The Bodyguard)

The Moon Song- Karen O, Ezra Koenig (Her)

Writing’s On The Wall- Sam Smith (Spectre 007)

Do you remember any of these?

I hope these songs triggered some memories of not only amazing songs but also some great movies as well. They say the music is really what makes the movie amazing and I have to say after listening to all these songs it really is a true statement. This year’s category is once again tough competition with songs from Sam Smith to Lady Gaga. I am really excited to see who will come out the big winner of the night!

The Oscars air this Sunday, February 28 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC.
