February’s artist of the month goes to Arizona’s own Lydia.
Each month I want to bring you a new featured artist of the month. These artists will be different each month and I want to be able to share their stories with you. This month’s pick is very special to me because it’s a band I have been following for a long time. My love for Lydia has been very strong since I discovered them when I was a sophomore year in high school. I blame my sister for my obsession over the years since she was the first person to introduce me to them and I have been hooked ever since.
Formed in 2003 by five high school friends, Gilbert, Arizona’s Lydia quickly set out to make a dent in the local scene with their poetic and tender take on indie rock. Since releasing their debut album in 2005, the band has kept busy with the release of six more albums. In between those releases, Lydia took a hiatus after their second album but decided afterwards to return to the music scene.
Here is a Spotify playlist with some of my favorites from Lydia:
I get asked all the time about all my tattoos. I have four Lydia album covers tattooed on my body. People might call me obsessed but I have to give so much credit to this band because they really kickstarted my passion and love for music.
Lydia will forever have a place in my heart.
